Leadership

Nate Moore
In his own words
As a Field Supervisor for a general contractor in the Des Moines area, I have the opportunity to lead others both professionally and personally. Leadership, accountability, and service are values that have become an important part of the life I live today.
One of my greatest passions is helping lead others toward recovery. I consider the opportunity to give back a debt of gratitude that I could never fully repay. Being able to share my experience, encourage others, and watch people begin building better lives is incredibly meaningful to me.
Outside of work and recovery, I value time with my wife, children, and grandchildren. Family is an important part of my life, and I am grateful for every opportunity to make memories with them. In my free time, I also enjoy reading and continuing to grow personally.
Recovery has given me a life worth living, and today I strive to give back by helping others discover that same hope.

Melissa Moore
In her own words
As a daycare provider and small business owner, I have always had a heart for caring for others and creating an environment where people can grow and thrive.
Recovery holds a very special place in my heart because recovery gave me my husband and the life we have built together. Seeing lives transformed, relationships restored, and families reunited reminds me why the work of recovery is so important. There is something incredibly meaningful about watching people rediscover hope, rebuild their lives, and become present for the people they love.
Family is at the center of my life. In my free time, I love spending time with my husband, children, and two grandchildren. I also enjoy expressing my creative side through crocheting, sewing, cooking, and baking.
To me, recovery is about more than changing one life—it is about restoring hope, strengthening families, and creating a better future for generations to come.

House liaisons
Each house has a liaison who runs it day to day: check-ins, chores, furloughs and support.

Jason F.
In his own words
As a Crew Lead with Wright Outdoor Solutions, I take pride in leadership, hard work, and being someone others can depend on. Outside of my professional life, music is one of my greatest passions and an important way for me to express myself and enjoy life.
Family is also a major part of who I am. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my daughter and grandbaby, making memories and appreciating the moments we have together. I also enjoy fishing with my dad, attending church with my girlfriend, and reading.
Whether I am leading a crew at work, enjoying music, spending time with the people I love, or learning something new through a good book, I strive to stay grounded in the things that bring purpose, faith, family, and gratitude into my life.

Jeremy B.
Read his story
Jeremy Baird serves as a Liaison House Manager and brings more than five years of clean and sober living to his role. His own journey is a powerful example of what sober living, accountability, and a willingness to change can make possible.
After spending many years involved with the Iowa Department of Corrections, Jeremy discovered that his past did not have to determine his future. By becoming willing to take suggestions from a sponsor—and, more importantly, putting those suggestions into action—he began building a completely different life.
Today, one of Jeremy’s greatest passions is helping men who are new to recovery begin putting their lives back together. He finds tremendous purpose in watching someone rediscover hope and realize that their past is part of their story, but it does not define who they are or who they can become.
A mechanic by trade, Jeremy enjoys sports and riding his Harley. When he isn’t working with men in recovery, his favorite time is spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Jeremy keeps his approach to recovery simple and grounded in three principles that guide the way he lives today:
“Trust God. Clean house. Help others.”

Porsha Scheierman serves as the Women’s House Liaison, bringing compassion, personal experience, and a strong commitment to helping women build meaningful lives in recovery.
Porsha currently works as a Medical Receptionist while continuing her education to earn her CNA/CMA credentials, which she expects to complete in December.
Her passion for helping others is deeply rooted in her faith and her own recovery journey. Porsha believes God has brought her through the challenges she has faced for a purpose—and that part of that purpose is using her experiences to encourage and support others.
Having experienced firsthand what it feels like to struggle and to have others believe in her when she struggled to believe in herself, Porsha understands the importance of encouragement, accountability, and community. Sober living played a significant role in transforming her life, and today she is passionate about giving other women the same hope, support, and opportunities that were given to her.
In her free time, Porsha enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending recovery meetings, learning new things, and continuing to strengthen her relationship with God. She has also learned to appreciate the simple moments and finds joy in the little things life has to offer.
“God brought me through what I went through for a reason. Today, I have the opportunity to use my story to give hope to someone else.”
